Introduction
Mahabir Prasad Singh Foundation for Education and Research is registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The society has also been registered u/s 12A, read with section 12AA (1) (B) of the Income Tax Act 1961. The society has been recognized under section 80G (5) (VI) of Income Tax Act, 1961. Therefore all donations are eligible for income tax rebate as applicable.
Objective / Aim
The main object of Mahabir Prasad Singh Foundation for Education and Research is to provide help to meritorious and needy students and researchers pursuing their studies in frontier areas of modern science like medicine, engineering, biotechnology and environmental science. The aim is to encourage / facilitate researchers to conduct researches in those of area of science, which is useful and beneficial for mankind and scientific progress.
Activities
The Mahabir Prasad Singh Foundation for Education and Research was founded in year 2002 with its head office at 6, Vasant Marg, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi - 110057 as per wish and desire of Late Shri Mahabir Prasad Singh (Retd. I.P.S.). Since then the society has been striving to attain the goal / aim set by him.

Following welfare/charitable activities are being undertaken by the society :-
(A) SCHOLARSHIP
To achieve the goal, during the years 2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 , 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 advertisements were published in Times of India and /or Hindustan Times inviting applications from needy and deserving students for scholarships and travel grants. In response to the advertisement given in the particular year a number of applications are received at the society’s office. A selection committee is constituted by the board of governors to select students on merit cum means basis. Out station students who are called for an interview are paid to and fro second-class train fare on the day of interview itself. Followings students were granted scholarship at the rate of Rs. 2000/- per month till 2010-11. The board of governors has decided to increase the scholarship amount to Rs. 3000/- per month since 2011-12.
